'Four killed' by volcano eruption

AT least four Yemeni soldiers were burned to death when a volcano erupted on a Red Sea island, soldiers evacuated to the port city of Hodeida said today.
"Four of our comrades have died, burned by the lava," said one soldier who was evacuated from the island of Jabal al-Tair, some 100km from Hodeida.
"They were killed immediately after the eruption of the volcano at 5.30pm on Sunday (11.30pm AEST)," another soldier said.
The eruption spewed lava hundreds of metres into the air. At least nine people had been reported missing.
Yemen's Oil Minister Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah said several earthquakes were felt on the island today which triggered the eruption.
