An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, centred to the SE of Cape of San Vicente, was felt at 1135 across much of the country today.

Several buildings were evacuated in Sevilla, including the Torre Triana, where several hundred work for the Junta de Andalucia, when cracks appeared, but there are no reports of any injuries or important material damage.

Journalists at the Diario de Sevilla newspaper report that they had to go out into the street when the tables and computer screens started to shake.

It’s thought to be the largest earthquake to have affected Andalucía for the past ten years.

Those in tall buildings as far away as Madrid felt the tremor, and as many as seven buildings in the capital were evacuated.
