4 explosions rock Mt. Mayon

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded four explosions in Mayon Volcano in the past 24 hours.

These occurred at 10:12 a.m., 11:25 a.m., 2:35 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. on Thursday.

Phivolcs resident volcanologist Ed Laguerta said rumbles were heard at various places around Mt. Mayon particularly in the cities of Tabaco, Guinobatan and Ligao.

Ash falls were also seen over Maninila, Guinobatan and at Mayon Rest house area in Buang, Tabaco City.

Seismic instrument recorded 277 tremor episodes caused by chunks of lava which detached from the summit of Mt. Mayon and the lava flow deposits were seen at upper Mabinit.

Laguerta said there were 25 volcanic earthquakes recorded which signified magma movement inside...
