Kanlaon volcano remains on Alert Level 1

Negros Occidental Provincial Deputized Civil Coordinator Vic Defante said they are now updating their contingency plan in preparation for the possible eruption of Kanlaon volcano, which remains to be on Alert Level 1.
Defante said Kanlaon volcano could erupt anytime without warning, the reason they are now updating their contingency plan in case evacuation has to be carried out, although they expect the eruption not to be as dramatic as that of Mt. Pinatubo.
The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has been monitoring Kanlaon volcano since June 3 when it began to be active anew.
