BRADES, Montserrat, Sat. July 1, 2006: Montserrat's volcano suffered another dome collapse yesterday, just over a month after the May 20 collapse.
Officials at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory Friday said a lava dome, that formed the highest part of the 3,000-foot Soufriere Hills volcano, collapsed partially at about 1 p.m. yesterday sending pyroclastic flows down the Tar River Valley to the sea on the Eastern side of the island and ash clouds to just over 12 thousand feet in the air. Luckily no injuries were reported and the ash settled over the sea in uninhabited areas. However, some ash fell in the Salem and Woodlands area.
