Quebec, B.C. residents face flood evacuation

Heavy rain forced about 100 people from their homes in Quebec's Eastern Townships Saturday morning, after the Yamaska River started overflowing. "The Yamaska River and all of its tributaries are running very quickly, and they're running a muddy brown colour, because the river ... is picking up soil," said CTV Montreal's Derek Conlon. Some of the residents of Cowansville, located about 100 kilometres southeast of Montreal, were carried to safety in the bucket of a front-end loader. Another 200 residents may have to evacuate as the river continues to rise, following nine straight days of rainfall that's dropped about 140 millimetres of water on the region so far.
